I've spent my entire racing career racing karts, finally winning my first overall championship last year in CalSpeed Karting's Ironman endurance series. This year I'm extremely excited to announce a partnership with www.vivamodelo.com which is allowing me the opportunity to make the jump up to racing cars. The transition to racing cars brings a significant increase in costs. Growing up in Minnesota, I always thought hockey was the most expensive sport...
Racing the Spec MX-5 Challenge national series would entail traveling to and from every race and upgrading all of the required safety gear to participate in the series (karting gear follows different types of safety regulations, which simply won't cut it for cars).
I've already acquired a new helmet, Hans neck restraint device and radio communication system required to race this season. The total cost for these three items alone was $2,250.
Each race weekend of travel requires a flight, hotel, and sometimes rental car. These costs generally come out to $600-800 per weekend.
I currently have the opportunity of a lifetime and any amount of support, whether large or small, would make a significant impact on allowing me to participate in this full season.
I grew up in Bloomington, MN playing every racing video game under the sun and watching F1 and ALMS with my dad on weekends. During college I made the decision to pursue racing and got into karting. Throughout my 20s I started coaching on racetracks and continued my racing efforts with karting, eventually winning my first overall championship in CalSpeed Karting's Ironman endurance series in Fontana, CA.
Since late 2020 I've gotten the chance to work as a driving instructor for Porsche at their Los Angeles Experience Center, gaining invaluable insights into the world of motorsports, coaching, and car control techniques. Through that growth I was able to take on private clients at the local kart track.
Coming into the 2023 season, I have the opportunity with the help of www.vivamodelo.com to race a mix of Spec Miata and Spec MX-5 Challenge at a national level. This is truly a dream come true and in my eyes a once in a lifetime opportunity.
